UIDAI – New Rules
The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has recently implemented significant changes to the Aadhaar (Enrolment and Update) rules. These revisions, unveiled in a recent notification, are poised to simplify and streamline the process for both residents and non-residents.
New Forms Tailored for Enhanced Convenience:
UIDAI has introduced revamped forms for Aadhaar enrolment and updates, catering to residents and non-residents based on age and address categories. The aim is to eliminate confusion and enhance clarity, ensuring a smoother application process.

Two Paths for Seamless Updates:
In a departure from the previous rules, the new regulations provide two convenient methods for updating information in the Central Identities Data Repository (CIDR). Individuals can choose between visiting an enrolment center or utilizing the official website/mobile application for a more accessible and streamlined experience.
Form Replacements for Clarity:
The existing forms have been replaced with simplified versions. For residents and non-residents aged 18 and above with proof of address in India, Form 1 now streamlines the process. Specific forms (Form 2) have been introduced for non-residents with addresses outside India, requiring proof of identity via a valid Indian passport and a mandatory email ID.
Catering to Various Age Groups:
Forms 3, 4, 5, 6, and 8 have been introduced to address the enrolment and updates for children of different age groups, both resident and NRI. The rules also cover the enrolment of resident foreign nationals, introducing Forms 7 and 8 for those above and below 18 years, respectively.
Documentary Proof for Complete Date of Birth:

A notable change is the requirement for documentary proof if an individual’s age is declared or approximate. This ensures the complete date of birth is printed on the Aadhaar card, enhancing accuracy and authenticity.
Periodic Updates for Continued Accuracy:
UIDAI has introduced Form 9, emphasizing the need for Aadhaar number holders to update documents or information every ten years from the date of Aadhaar generation. This proactive measure aims to ensure the continued accuracy of information in the Central Identities Data Repository.
